In British folklore, the hare sits up at night to gaze at the moon. In Chinese legend, the moon is home to a jade rabbit and an osmanthus tree that grows back each time it is cut.
A brown hare looks up from a meadow of cow parsley and golden osmanthus towards a full moon ringed with clouds, on a midnight-blue ground. A scarf for long autumn evenings.
